Happy Birthday James!

Hello.
Today is James' birthday! I have made him an accordion card using an idea I've had for a while. When I saw Cookie Guy and Superhero from Kenny K I wanted to make a card based on Superman changing in the phone booth. Since James is a comic book fan I wanted to wait for his birthday to make it. I found the phone booth image on a blog called Beyond the Fringe.

The change takes place over three pages of the card. The first page shows the Cookie Guy, the second is the Telephone Booth with the blur of colour inside as he changes to be the Superhero who appears on the third page. I thought it would be fun to have the sentiment spread over all three pages too.

For each image I created a background to match. Cookie Guy has games console controllers, the Telephone Booth has numbers as they are on a phone key pad, and the Superhero has stars.

I added some gloss to Cookie Guy's glasses, and the Telephone Booth is laid over acetate so that they both look more like glass. To finish each panel I added some faux stitching around the edges.

CYDI? Challenge #29 - Love is in the Air

Hello.
The new challenge at Can You Digi It? starts today. With Valentine's day being this week our theme fittingly is love. For my card I used the camera image from Photography Set A by Annie J Designs. I added a sentiment using the Typewriter alphabet by Hobbycraft. Pictures of You is a song by The Cure which is one of mine and James' favourite songs.

Happy Birthday Catherine!

Hello.
Today is my cousin's birthday. I kept her her card CAS, just using a couple of cute Bugaboo digi's and a Hobbycraft sentiment.

Nine Years!

Hello.
Today James and I are celebrating nine years together! When browsing the Kenny K store recently I came across the Spaced image and knew what I wanted to do for James' card. We are both big Star Wars fans, so I based my card around that. The sentiment comes from the scene where Leia tells Han she loves him and he replies with 'I know'.

SCS - Mix1

Hello.
This card is another one which was sent for Thomas' birthday yesterday. It is also my entry for the new Mixed Media challenge on Splitcoast. The challenge is to use something matte and something shiny. For my matte I painted the star using acrylic paints. My shiny is embossing, the sentiment is embossed although it doesn't show in the picture.

Happy Birthday Tom!

Hello.
Today is my cousins birthday. You might recognise the image from the card I made for my other cousin a couple of posts back.

Happy Birthday Mum!

Hello.
Today is my Mum's birthday! As well as making a card for her I have made her a calender. This guy is Romeo by Kenny K. Anyone who has ever had to make my mum a coffee will have most likely heard her saying the phrase I have added. The writing was done using Hobbycraft's Typography Alphabet, and the paper is from the Oxford pad by Basic Grey.

I used another Kenny K image (Total Disaster) for her card. I have been planning this card for her since I first got that digi. I used an Elzybells alphabet for most of the sentiment, and a FunkyHand stamp for the rest. The spotty paper is from the All Seasons pad in the Recollections range from Michael's.

Brraaaiiinnnsss

Hello.
This is the calender I have made for James. I added fingerprints to each month on the calender, as well as all over the background. The zombie is from Make It Crafty, although he doesn't appear to still be on the site. I created the writing using the typewriter alphabet from Hobbycraft.

Skelekinz Thank You

Hello.
I haven't really felt like creating much this week, so I'm sharing a card which I didn't share when I made it, just so my blog doesn't get lonely. This card was made for James' friend who has helped him out with driving a few places since he can't drive himself at the moment.

CYDI? Challenge #22 - Favourite Animal

Hello.
It's challenge time over on the Can You Digi It? blog and this time we are using our favourite animals. I have a few favourite animals, but this Meerkat stood out to me, as I end up spending a lot of time watching them whenever we go to somewhere that has them. Click this link to go to the challenge, and I hope you can play along.

31 Day Card Challenge - Day 27

Hello.
Day 27 is the second of the sketch challenges in the 31 Day Card Challenge. For this card I used three of the Bear Heroes from Doodle Dragon Studios. The other panel has a sentiment on which I made using the Typewriter alphabet set from Hobbycraft. They are all backed on a superhero themed paper which was in my scraps.

31 Day Card Challenge - Day 21

Hello.
The next five parts of the 31 Day Card Challenge are inspiration challenges. The first is to be inspired by one of your own cards from a year ago. I didn't have anything on my blog from last October, so I had to choose one that I  have a picture of which I knew was made roughly a year ago. The inspiration card is below.

This is last years card which I took the inspiration from.

31 Day Card Challenge - Day 17

Hello.
Day 17's challenge for the 31 Day Card Challenge is a gatefold card. I made mine into a heart shape. The background is stamped with a heart from the Love set by Hobbycraft, which only just shows in the picture. I added Ron (The Sidekick) and Hermione (The Brave One) from Bugaboo on either side of the heart. The full Bugaboo Harry Potter set have been in my coloured digi's pile for a while, and these two seemed perfect for this card so I had to use them.

31 Day Card Challenge - Day 9

Hello.
Day 9's challenge for the 31 Day Card Challenge is stamp kissing. It's a technique I've never tried before, and it turns out me and stamp kissing don't get along. I decided to try with two different paisley stamps, and the one on the card is the third attempt at it. I might give it another try with different stamps, and different inks, but for now here is my stamp kissing card.

Thorne

Hello.
This is another card which will be for someone to send to my cousin for her 21st. At University she does a lot of film editing, so I knew I wanted to use Hobbycraft's Film Reel stamp on a card for her. I used it to create the background for this card and then added Thorne from Delicious Doodles.

Little Monster

Hello.
When I was sorting through my scraps I found this oval which I had coloured and drawn a  pattern on. It stood out from the rest of the scraps so I thought I should use it. I then looked through my pile of printed digi's and came across this monster from Squiggle Stamps, so I coloured him to match the oval and layered them together. I used decorative scissors to add a pattern to the side of the card, and then coloured some paper in the same shade again and stuck that to the inside edge of the card. The sentiment to finish is from the Thank You set by Hobbycraft.

Twenty One

Hello.
October is one of the busiest months for me making cards, lots of people having birthday, so I usually try and get started early. One of my cousins will be turning twenty one and I will need four cards, for different people to send her, so this is the first one of them.
While I was browsing through ideas to use for the 31 day challenge I came across some ideas which I wanted to try. This card uses the pixel embellishments which I thought looked really cool. I used black, pink and purple chalk for my pixels, although I think the pink got lost behind the two darker colours.

Love

Hello.
I recently got some half size post it notes. I've been playing around with them and trying a few masking techniques. For this card I placed a strip of the post it's across the card then used my brayer to colour the rest of the card. In the gap left by the post it's I stamped the sentiment using the the Typewriter alphabet from Hobbycraft.

Hugs

Hello.
I seem to have been neglecting my blog recently, so I have three cards ready to post over the next three days.

Today's card uses Just Purr-fect from Delicious Doodles. I backed her on a paper from the Oxford pad by Basic Grey. The sentiment was created using the Typography alphabet set from Hobbycraft.
