Happy Birthday James!

Hello.

Today is James' birthday! I have made him an accordion card using an idea I've had for a while. When I saw Cookie Guy and Superhero from Kenny K I wanted to make a card based on Superman changing in the phone booth. Since James is a comic book fan I wanted to wait for his birthday to make it. I found the phone booth image on a blog called Beyond the Fringe.

The change takes place over three pages of the card. The first page shows the Cookie Guy, the second is the Telephone Booth with the blur of colour inside as he changes to be the Superhero who appears on the third page. I thought it would be fun to have the sentiment spread over all three pages too.

For each image I created a background to match. Cookie Guy has games console controllers, the Telephone Booth has numbers as they are on a phone key pad, and the Superhero has stars.

I added some gloss to Cookie Guy's glasses, and the Telephone Booth is laid over acetate so that they both look more like glass. To finish each panel I added some faux stitching around the edges.

Today is Mother's Day in the UK. I have made matching cards for mine and James' mum using Daisy with Flowers from The Stamping Shack.

Today is my cousins birthday. The card I made for him uses two Creative Stamping Magazine sets. The image is from the For Him set and the sentiment is from the Celebrations set.

Mrs. Monochrome

I love this stamp which came with the latest issue of Creative Stamping magazine. I knew when I saw the set that I had to emboss her. The paper, flower and the brad (centre of the flower) are all in the Black line from the Capsule Collection by Papermania. The two empty corners were rounded because I thought it looked too plain before.

31 Day Card Challenge - Day 1

Hello.

It's October, which means I start my 31 Day Card Challenge. I will be posting the challenge cards at 12pm every day. 

For day 1 the challenge is to use black, white and one other colour (the other colour I used is blue). This lady is from the Art Deco set which came with Creative Stamping Magazine. I coloured her hat and dress in blue and added a blue gem to the front of her hat. She is backed on three ovals, the top one is black glossy card, the middle is white card cut with decorative scissors and the bottom one is white card which I coloured with the same blue pen that was used on the image. The background paper is from the Black and White pack by Paper Cellar. I finished off with a sentiment from the Worth Repeating set by Stampology, and added a couple more gems.

Orange Fairy

Another card using a Wee Stamps image. For this card I set a challenge for myself. I chose this paper from the Funky Vintage pack by Dovecraft and had to make the card using that paper. I knew I wanted to use this image on a card soon so I coloured her to match the paper.

Happy Anniversary Mum and Dad!

Today is my parents wedding anniversary so I'm sharing the card I gave them. The image I used is from Beccy's Place, and the sentiment is from the Celebrations set by Creative Stamping magazine.

Spirograph

While I was having a tidy in my craft room/my Grandma's attic I found an old Spirograph set. I thought it would be fun to use for cards, so I had a quick play with it. There are so many more frames I can make with it I will definitely be playing with it some more.

Field of flowers

My Grandma asked me recently to make a card for her cousin. I thought straight away of this stamp, and this design. The image and sentiment are from two different magazine sets. 

Harbour

I have admired this image on Delicious Doodles for a while and finally got around to buying it a couple of weeks back. The image was printed four times so I could make it look 3d.

Camper Van

I thought I would play with some of my watercolour paper, since I barely use it, so I made my own patterned paper. First I scribbled all over it using five different watercolour pencils, and then swirled them together. Then I stamped the camper van in blue, and stamped over each one in white. The camper van has a heart on it so I filled the gaps in the paper with some embossed hearts using a glitter embossing powder. I really liked how the paper turned out so I didn't want to cover it too much, so I just added some white faux stitching and a sentiment and the card was done.

Guitar Hero

This is for another of James' cousins. It's based on the Guitar Hero video games. The circles are punched from white card and then coloured using promarkers. The guitar comes from the 'For Him' set which came with Creative Stamping magazine. I embossed a Hobbycraft sentiment over the guitar. That embossing powder smells of cinnamon, but I had to use it because it's the only red I have.

Band bookmark

Hello.

Just a quick bookmark to share for now. I embossed and masked the guitar them stamped the drum kit in two different purples over the top. The finished panel was then stuck at an angle on some paper from the Rock Queen mat stack. To finish off I tied four different cross stitch threads to the bottom.

Celebrate

Hello.

This owl and sentiment both came from a free stamp set which came with Creative Stamping magazine. There is such a great variety of stamps in this set. More of them will be appearing on my blog in the near future.

Corsets

Hello.

This card uses three corsets from My Grafico, and a sentiment from a magazine freebie set. I used a purple gel pen to frame the image.
