A few weeks back I bought the Kitschy Kitchen 6x6 pad by Melissa Frances. Last week I put it straight in front of where I sit at my desk so that I would use it, as my paper pads tend to sit unused for a long time. I got around to using it for this card, all these papers are from that pad. The image is by Dee Dee's.

I always love when people add lots of layers, pretty patterned papers and embellishments to their cards, but I tend to stick to pretty simple designs. Today I thought I would have a go at creating something with a bit more going on. I started by colouring Devilish Donna from Kenny K and then chose some monotone papers to go with her. All the patterned papers are from the Black & White 6x6 pad by Paper Cellar. For the finishing touch I used some black paper to create some flowers.

I recently saw a twisted tri-fold card in a magazine and thought it looked like a fun and unusual fold, so I decided to give it a go. I used a couple of Elzybells stamps for the images. Teddy Heart is a slightly larger version of the teddy from the middle of Love You Teds, so I used him to give the teddies a bit of variation in size. The hearts on the background are from the Scrumptious stamp set by Papermania. This card is for James, to celebrate our 8 year anniversary.

Today is one of my best friends birthdays, so I have made this easel card for her. I created the background using a stamp which came in a set I bought at Poundland. The two images are digi's the girl is from Kenny K and the mp3 player is from Starry Night Studios. The sentiment is from a magazine freebie set by Ladybug Crafts Ink. For the bottom panel I hand drew some buttons to keep with the mp3 player theme.

An update on my last post:

Thomas was born Saturday evening at around 5:30. Unfortunately we didn't get to go and see him on Sunday because of icy roads and work clashing with visiting hours. I have seen pictures of him though, and he is beautiful. We will be going to see him this Sunday instead.

James' sister is due to give birth any time soon, so I have made this card as a congratulations for Keeley and Mick, and as a way of welcoming Thomas into the world. Because this is a scheduled post, he may already be here by the time this appears on my blog. James and I can't wait to meet him. We will be going to see Keeley on Sunday night, so hopefully Thomas will be here by then.

Thomas was written using the Fun Alphabet set by Papermania. The rest of the sentiment was written using an Elzybells alphabet. The animals are Snag 'Ems by Imaginisce. As well as the three on the front, there is this Giraffe inside the card.

I had two copies of this image printed and as I was colouring one for a different card I thought the image reminded me of Coraline. I think it's because her eyes look a little like buttons. So I coloured this image in colours which Coraline is most often depicted wearing. The image is by Squiggle Stamps. The sentiment is for the Birthday set by Hobbycraft. I had to add a few buttons to the card to finish it, these ones are all from the Tub 'O Buttons.

This image and sentiment came together in a digi stamp. They are from the closed down site which was Dee Dee's. The paper come's from 'The Big One' Which is a 12x12 pack by Papermania. Because the image and sentiment were both so large I kept the layout for this card simple.

I got myself a few new promarkers recently, including a Ginger one, so as soon as I got them home I had to colour an image with ginger hair. So, here she is. This is a Valentines image from Stamp Insanity. It doesn't really show very well, but she is holding a Valentines card. The sentiment was created using an Elzybells alphabet. To finish the card I used my favourite embossing folder, Swiss Dots, to add a bit of interest to the background.

This little guy is an Adipose. They were aliens which appeared in an episode of Doctor Who. I've been wanting the soft toy of this since I knew there was one, but I still haven't bought one yet so I've made one for myself to wear as a necklace instead.

This is Flower Fairy from Beccy's Place. I though she would be cute just dressed as a flower though, so she hasn't got her fairy wings anymore. I made the flower she is on using a circle cutting tool and a circle punch then coloured them to match her dress. The sentiment comes from Cute Characters Set 1 by Personal Impressions.

I wasn't sure what to put on these cards and then I remembered about this laptop image from Digi Drawn. I used the Worth Repeating stamp set by Stampology to add the sentiment, because I thought it would look like the different fonts had been written on the laptop. Now I just need to get the second card done.

I made this paper using the Fun and Funky arrows set by Hot of the Press. Once I'd made it I realised I didn't really want to cover it all up, so I came up a simple design for a card which would leave most of the paper showing. Both sentiments are from the Honey and Hugs range by Papermania. 'Birthday fun' is from the Sheep set and 'Fun fun fun!' is from the Owl set.

I printed off a page of digi stamps lately by Dee Dee's called Words of Comfort. The quote I chose for this card seemed to work perfect with an image of a house, so I chose this one by Polka Doodles. The background paper is from the Earth Palette pack by Hot Off The Press. To finish off the card I added some flower shaped buttons, which came from the Tub 'o' Buttons.

Kermit and Converse

The couple of charms I'm sharing now still need their wires wrapping. When that is done they will be attached to chains to become necklaces. Usually when I make polymer clay jewellery it is based on what I have seen made by others online, but recently I have been trying to come up with my own designs and these are two of them.

First of is Kermit the Frog. I wanted to make my favourite muppet Gonzo, but I wasn't sure how well his nose would work, so for now I'll stick with Kermit.

Second is a red converse. I own quite a few pairs of converse, but I have wanted red ones for so long and still not bought any. So I figured I would make myself one.

Since we've started having a lot of work done on our house I've had to move my craft supplies to my Grandma's house. She has an attic which is just used as her spare room, so that has become my craft room. I've made this card for her as a thank you for letting me use her spare room.

She reads and watches a lot of detective/'who done it?' stories, so I used that as inspiration for this card. I kept the card really simple, by just creating a background of fingerprints and then adding the sentiment using an Elzybells alphabet.

This card started with the my wanting to do some paper weaving. I cut an image of Little Miss Giggles from the Little Miss Patterned Paper 12x12 stack by Paper Cellar and chose to do the weaving in colours to match her. I had to add some 'giggles' to the card, so I used an Elzybells alphabet set to repeatedly stamp 'ha'. I used a sentiment from the Phrases set which is in the Forever Friends Black & Gold range to finish it off.

When I was shopping recently I found this 'The Snowman' stamp set by Crafter's Companion on sale and I couldn't really say no with how cheap it was. I used pencils to try and copy the colouring used in the book and film. I wanted to keep the card fairly simple because I wanted the image to be the focal point so I went with my 'go-to' layout, and finished it off with a sentiment from the Bubble Greetings set by Elzybells. I'm not sure how well it shows in the picture, but the letters have a touch of blue in the corner to echo the snow of the image.

When I originally stamped 'Rupert' for the card I posted earlier I wasn't sure what colour to make him. I didn't think the first attempt was right for that card, but I couldn't just throw him away, so I made this card for him to go on.

The background paper and the three circles are from the Transportation double sided 12x12 paper by Best Creation Inc. I cut the spanner he's holding from one of the robot themed pages in the All About Boys 12x12 stack by DCWV. The sentiment is a combination of part of one stamp from the Friendly Advice set by Inkadinkado and a stamp from the Bubble Greetings set by Elzybells.

I have been wanting to make a card like this for so long, and I finally got the perfect paper for it. The cloudy paper comes from a 6x6 pad called Let's Fly Away which was designed by Rachel Harper for Quick Cards Made Easy magazine. The spotty paper is from the Spring Burst 6x6 pad by Papermania. My favourite thing about this card though is that I got to use two of my favourite stamp sets. I've been looking through some of my old blog posts lately to try and inspire myself. I really liked the image from Digi Stamps 4 Joy which I used on this card. I ended up almost remaking the same card, but I gave her a patterned background this time and a change of sentiment. That background is from a pack of papers I got from the Japanese section of Epcot. I used another of my Hobbycraft sets for the sentiment, this time it was the Thank You set.

I have something a little different to share in this post. This is the cake I made for my Mum's birthday yesterday. I followed the recipe for a Victoria sponge cake, but replaced some of the flour with cocoa powder. Then instead of jam between the two layers I used Nutella. I'm hoping eventually to learn how to decorate cakes, but since I'm not so great at it yet I just sprinkled the top with icing sugar.

I used another couple of cute digi's from Bugaboo for today's card. When I started making this card I wasn't sure whether to make it into a birthday card or an Easter card, but as it was closer to being finished I realised I don't have much of a selection of Easter sentiments so it had to be birthday. The birthday sentiment comes from the 'Worth Repeating' set by Stampology. I added a lot of faux stitching to the card using a purple Gelly Roll Gold pen by Sakura.

Every so often I print a few pages of digi's off for me to work through. This card was made using a couple of the digi's that I printed recently. Both images used on this card come from Bugaboo. They were coloured using promarkers, with a few dots of star dust stickles on the icing of the cupcake. I saw a card today which had used the Swiss Dots embossing folder, which inspired me to get my Cuttlebug out for the background. The sentiment for this card came from a set of pre-stamped sentiments which came free with Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine.

I have decided this year to set myself a challenge for the year. The last year and a bit for a few reasons my blog posts were sporadic, so this year my aim is to post at least once a week. So, on with my first post of the year.

Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine had a free 'Travel Light' 6x6 pad by We R Memory Keepers, which as soon as I saw it I had to buy. The papers looked good for masculine cards, which I always find hard to make, so they should be helpful. This card uses four different papers from the pad. The sentiment is from a Hobbycraft set. I bought a few of their sets a while back and this is the first time using one.

I had planned to post these five cards individually on the five days leading up to Christmas, but I ended up working a lot and didn't have time, so here they all are bunched into one post.

This one is made just using papers from the Papermania Honey and Hugs 'Festive Frolics' 12x12 kit.

This one is made just using papers from the Papermania 'Classic Christmas' 12x12 kit.

These papers are from the 'A Wonderful Christmas Time' 6x6 pad by Papermania. The stamp is from a set designed by Adam Pescott exclusively for 'Make Christmas Cards - Vintage Special' magazine.

Everything but the square gems on this card are from a special edition magazine which was called 'Just Great Papers - Christmas Cards'.

The two stamps used on this card also came from a set which was free with a magazine, these ones are by a company called onefourzero. The tartan paper is from the 'Checks' 6x6 pad by Paper Cellar.

It took a while to decide on the sentiment, and I'm not sure I ended up making the best choice since I don't have a sister, but I'm sure I will find something to do with it.

Today I thought I would share a few of the last projects I made last year, since they never made it onto my blog.

The first card uses papers from the 'Just Chillin' Boys 6x6 pad by Making Memories. The image is Valentine's Day Maddie by Stamp Insanity, and the sentiment was made using some old, unlabelled alphabet rub-on's.

The second card uses the same paper pad, but this time with an image by Mo's Digital Pencil.

This was a guest book I made for a friend's sister to give to her Grandma. The frames were for her to add pictures, and all the white space was for everyone at the party to write on. I kept it simple and just made four copies of each of the pages below, not including the title page.

Yesterday I mentioned I need to get a few birthday cards done for the end of this month, but for some reason I skipped ahead to the end of next month and made this card for James' cousin's daughter who will be turning one. I made the faux patchwork using papers from the 'Watercolours' and 'Rainbow' mat stacks by Sizzix. The adorable image is by Mo's Digital Pencil, I've seen her stamps on a few people's blogs but only just got around to getting myself some.

Yesterday i went shopping and found a book called 'Night of the Living Trekkies'. I had to buy it since James is a fan of both Zombies and Star Trek. Then today I found this Zombie freebie on Make It Crafty, so I merged the two together to make this gift set for him.

A couple of posts back I shared with you the good luck card I will soon be giving to my cousin. Today's card is the one that will be going to her boyfriend. They both leave for Sunderland University on Saturday.

Also, I thought I would share with you a little of what I've been up to the past few days which has kept me from blogging. My friend had a party on Friday night to celebrate her new roommate moving in. Most of Saturday was spent recovering.

Then on Sunday I went with James and his parents to the National Space Centre for a Doctor Who convention. Here is a photo of me and James with The Doctor and Amy (not the real actors) in front of the Tardis.
